James Shandro
Professional Experience: James joined Macdonald Commercial in 2009 as a Retail & Investment Specialist, focusing on retail sales and retail lease transactions, and bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, experience, and industry contacts. James began his career in with a highly successful and well-respected Real Estate Developer as a member of their dynamic retail leasing team. During his time there, James was responsible for market research, project marketing, and leasing of retail units in a variety of markets throughout Western Canada. Along with leasing, James was also involved in the site acquisition process for potential retail development projects as well as disposition of existing retail centres. James has experience in street-front leasing, mall leasing, and new development pre-leasing. He is a skilled negotiator, and has been involved in lease deals and negotiations with some of the largest retail tenants in Canada and North America. James continues to keep himself current on all matters related to retail properties, including land comparables, lease comparables, cap rates, and all relevant retail development projects. His experience and exposure to all levels of lease deals and tenant mixes gives him an advantage that is invaluable to his clients, both land owners and tenants alike. James’ professional and dedicated approach enables him to provide strategic real estate solutions, reliable knowledge and information, and outstanding service to his clients. Educational Achievements: James is a graduate of the BCIT – Marketing Management, Commercial Real Estate program, where he was a recipient of the BCIT Award of Excellence for top Directed Studies project, which he prepared for Avison Young. He then furthered his education by obtaining his Real Estate License from the UBC Sauder School of Business.
